Graffiti Pier

Photo shoot with Chris in Philly

The abandoned Conrail pier was originally used as a coal loading dock until the late 70's.

The modern art of graffiti actually began in the heart of Philadelphia with Darryl McCray, known by his tag, "Cornbread."

Philadelphia distinguishes itself by maintaining a unique style that still remains today as extremely difficult and hard to duplicate or read if you are not accustomed to the style of writing.

The style used is referred to as "wickeds." However, that style only makes up a small portion of Graffiti Pier's walls. Most of the walls consist of throws, the most common graffiti style that looks like thickly outlined bubble letters and depends more on images.
